Intercom System and Home Security

A human's need to feel secure isn't just a modern man's need. It's a core need that comes from ages ago. In the stone age, man lived in caves, had boundaries around him, ignited fire while sleeping, all this to feel safe and secure from animals that roamed in the wilderness.

Today's need for security is nothing different than that of a stone age man. We need to feel secure at our homes. Intercoms provide utmost security and are recommended to everyone who wants to keep his/her house safe and secured.

In this article I'll be answering some burning  questions that everyone has when thinking of having an intercom system for their homes.

What are the types of intercom systems?

Mainly, there are 4 types of intercom systems:

Wired

These systems have physical wires running throughout our homes. Although these intercom systems might sound outdated in the now wireless era, they still have two strong advantages over wireless intercom systems.

Firstly, there's no issue of signal interference since there are physical wires through which signals are transferred.

Secondly, your system can't be hacked. There's no data transmission through air as it's medium, so your system is safe and secured.

Wireless

These intercom doorbells are the most used systems in the market. They are the charge-the-batteries and ready-to-use systems.

They don't require any fuss with drilling holes, knocking walls to make room for wires.

But the issues can't be ignored. There will always be a looming threat of getting your system hacked.

You also might get signal interferences.

These systems use wi-fi, so it's working solely depends on your personal wi-fi router. It will not be efficient if the network is low.

They are priced lower than the wired systems.

Automatic gate entry

This has some more features in it. It can operate the doors automatically. Some providers also provide a video camera along with it, so that you can see who's on the door.

 Carrier current

They use the electrical power from the building itself. Interference issues still persist in this type of system. But they are cost effective.

Most of these systems can be controlled through mobile phones via some mobile application.

What are the advantages of having an intercom system at home?

Security

It provides security!! One of the core needs. What else do you want?

One feels secure when you have an intercom system in place. You will easily know who's at the door and what their purpose of visit is.

You can even monitor your visitors remotely through your mobile phones. You can sleep peacefully at your safe home.

Comfort

You don't have to worry about some burglar entering your house. It's one less worry. You can concentrate on your work and maneuver easily without having the constant need of staying on alert. Already there are so many things we think and worry about in our day to day life. Intercom doorbells take away some part of the burden.

Children are safe

You can look after your children through these intercom systems. Everyone knows that children tend to do some out-of-the-box things that even we cannot fathom. Through video intercom you can keep a watch and also give instructions to your children.

 Costs are low

The kind of security it's providing, compared to that the costs are very low. It gives us mental peace and satisfies our need of feeling safe and secure.
